Built to work alongside one-on-one prep

  • The list is already vetted

Most tutors build their own vocabulary lists, which means hours spent assembling something that comes down to a judgment call. Ours was pulled from official College Board practice tests, cross-checked against leading prep resources, and reviewed by a team of expert tutors. That work is done, and it was done from data.

  • Nobody has to chase the student

The first ten minutes of a session often go to finding out whether the homework got done. The gate handles that, so session time goes to teaching instead of enforcement. Less chasing also means more time building trust with your students.

  • You can see exactly where the gaps are

Which words keep slipping, which question types a student misses, and whether they’re struggling with definitions, usage or reading in context. That’s a diagnostic, not a guess, and it tells you what to work on before the session starts.

  • Strategy you already teach, practiced daily

Punctuation cues, Words in Context format, “plug in your own word”, positive/negative/neutral elimination. SATShield drills the habits you teach, so they’re automatic by test day.

Tutor FAQ

Where does the word list come from?

The 300 words were drawn from official College Board practice tests and cross-checked against leading SAT prep resources, then reviewed by experienced SAT tutors. They're words with a documented history of appearing on the test.

Does SATShield replace a tutor?

No. It handles daily vocabulary and strategy practice and works alongside tutoring. For students who won't study on their own, it's a strong place to start.

Can tutors see their students' progress?

SATShield tracks every miss, accuracy by level, and which words keep slipping, so tutors can see where a student needs help. Dedicated tutor dashboards are on our roadmap. Contact us to join the tutor pilot.
